Most children won’t ask for these but here are 10 of the best board games for kids.

I hope that your kids don’t put any of these games on their holiday list. And I doubt they will because they probably have never heard of them. In fact I’m pretty sure that many of you reading this may not even know about some of these…
If you are like me and are always looking for ways to pry the iPad out of your children’s hands or get them playing games WITHOUT screens, then this list is for you. I am a HUGE fan of board games and wanted to share 10 of the best board games for kids here with you just in time for the holidays.
Now before we get to the games I want to mention why they are so important. The best board games for kids give families a chance to come together, play, and have fun! It’s these times that memories are made of. And if you have been negligent in having family game night lately (guilty), there’s alway the chance to start it up again this Winter Break!

We own every.single.game. on this list and if it’s included here it’s because my kids and I have enjoyed playing it. Sometimes I’m surprised by the games they love (the Science Ninja game was a big hit with my middle schooler last year) and sometimes I love seeing my kids enjoy a classic (Family Trivial Pursuit is really fun). And for anyone that needs some solitary game time I highly recommend Rush Hour!
And psst…once the holidays are over and you are trying to fill hours and hours of winter break without resorting to screens the entire time THESE GAMES WILL BE YOUR BEST PURCHASE EVER!

What your family’s favorite game? Let me know in the comments section.

Hi..thanks for the suggestions. I’m a homeschool teacher and the children ages 6-11 love:
Rat-a-tat CAT and Sleeping Queens which are both card games.
I’m going to check those out! Thanks for the suggestion!
I disagree with Blokus being on this list. My family has loved this game for years. My family and I started playing it over 10 years ago. We even came up with a way to play 2 player.
🙂 I agree! This list is written from the standpoint of “your kids won’t ask for these but will LOVE them!” Blokus is a fave of ours too!
My grandchildren love Rummikub and Mexican Train as much as I do.
We don’t have either of those! ON my holiday list now!
Some of our favs are Exploding Kittens, Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts, Tenzi, Lego Shave a Sheep and good old UNO
Love UNO and Exploding Kittens! I don’t have Tenzi but it’s on my list now!
I also feel the same for my kids. Thank you for sharing.
