A friend recently confided in me that she wants to try science projects at home with her kids but they aren’t interested. My suggestion? Try introducing science through art!
One of the most overlooked bonuses for doing art projects with your kids is this:
Art is the perfect gateway to learning about different subjects.
Case in point: my 6 year old daughter loves doing art projects. If I ask her to come do a math or science project she might say, “Maybe later mommy,” but the call to the art table is usually met with hurried steps and enthusiasm. So why not use that opportunity to introduce a little science or math at the same time?
Today’s process art project Ooey Gooey Oily Art does just that; it gives kids a chance to get messy making lovely process art while at the same time introduces them to four, count ’em four, scientific concepts…even if they don’t realize it!
I invite you to hop over to The Artful Parent, where I’m guest posting today, and check it out how we did it!
