Yes, we Babble, Dabble and Do…
Hi! I’m Ana, a former architect and furniture designer turned creative blogger and mother to 3 children with my husband, a master videographer.
When we had children I knew there were two values I wanted to instill in them: intense curiosity and a creative spirit. I saw hands-on projects as a way to spend time with my kids and nurture these values. So we started making stuff, a lot of stuff. There were many duds and Pinterest fails at the beginning, so many that I wondered if we would ever have fun making things together.
It was at this point that I decided to scrap the adult led crafts and try process art and wacky science experiments instead. I let my kids explore without interference (I had to bite my lip a lot while I learned to back off) and we began to connect more positively as a family: babbling, dabbling, and doing things TOGETHER.
Ready to knock your kids’ socks off with some awesomeness?
Here are 5 amazing projects you can try this week using supplies you probably have on hand:
We also love making stuff with paper! I collected our favorite paper projects in a downloadable Paper Toys Play Pack:
“The resources on {Babble Dabble Do} are perfect ways for students to challenge their creativity.”- Karey Killian @CoLIBRAtoRY
“I love your lessons and have been sharing them with kids in my community. Thanks for your creativity and the clear, accessible way you present your ideas.” -Holly
“Ana is the magic-maker behind the kids-and-crafts blog Babble Dabble Do. Her training as an industrial designer shows through in her projects (drinking-straw geodesic domes, D.I.Y. mosaic magnets), which inspire kids to explore color, design, and engineering.”- Parents Magazine

And because I love sneak peeks into people’s lives here are a few funny facts about me:
- If I could do it all over again: I’m a nerd, always have been, always will be. I just wish I’d embraced my nerdiness sooner in life.
- Favorite comfort food: Anchovy Stuffed Olives AKA Aceitunas Rellena de Anchoa. Did someone say SALT BOMB? Pass them over!
- Secret Passion: Charlton Heston movies from the 1970s. Haven’t see The Omega Man, Soylent Green, or Planet of the Apes? Time to serve up some campy sci-fi fun!
- Former Life: Yup, I was an architect and furniture designer. Someday I hope to combine my love of creating fun kid’s projects and product design; who knows maybe there is a line of awesome creative toys in the making….
- When We Aren’t Making: You can find us on iPads (yes, we do all love tech), at the beach (a perk of living in sunny LA) or taking silly pictures (we love the Snapchat face changing feature!).
