After a couple of school parties and my own trips to the 99 cent store to buy Halloween accessories, we had quite a few handfuls of glow sticks last year that I guilty tossed in the trash on November 1.
I really don’t like dumping plastic into the garbage but what can you do when it’s filled with glowing chemicals? This year I was determined to find a better use for old glow sticks than landfill fodder, so we UPCYCLED them into colorful DIY bracelets. No one will ever guess there is an old glow stick underneath!
I created this project for Makes & Takes blog. If you haven’t been to Make and Takes it’s an incredible resource of projects for kids and adults, as well as recipes and holiday ideas. If you want to see our step-by step tutorial on how to turn glow stick trash to funky treasure hop over here!
If you love UPCYCLING projects here are a few more we’ve tackled:Turn leftover chalks bits into CHALK ROCKS
Use plastic fruit packaging as a SIMPLE LOOM
Turn used crepe paper into PAPER PULP CHARMS
