Hello October! It’s my favorite month of the year, and yes I’m partial because it’s my birthday month! But it’s also the true beginning of fall and the month we celebrate Halloween, my personal fave holiday.
Paper Month was a blast in September and we’re following it up with Natural Materials in October. The start of new season is always a great time to explore nature and fall is wonderful because it’s when nature really comes into focus, what with the changing weather and falling leaves. Natural materials have been something we’ve wanted to explore more here on Babble Dabble Do and I hope you are as excited as I am to get going on some nature art, science, and design projects.
This month we’ll be doing things like making a natural loom, making something pretty out of all those leftover herbs you have from summer, and getting the kiddos to create Halloween crafts with good old rocks and apples…..Be sure to subscribe or like us on FB so you don’t miss a single project! Here is a little taste of the nature fun we’ve had here in the past on Babble Dabble Do:

So let’s celebrate Natural Materials!
I can’t say enough about exploring nature with your kids through art, design, and science. I believe in the power of the outdoor environment so much that my kids attend an OUTDOOR preschool. Yup that’s right, our school is all outdoors! We have a couple activity sheds but the school is like a little outdoor village where kids get to be outside every day; that is one of the bonuses of living in LA. If you haven’t heard of the outdoor school/classroom concept this is a great time to explore it! Here’s a good place to start: http://outdoorclassroomproject.org/
Be sure to subscribe and catch all our natural materials projects! All our subscribers will be automatically entered into this month’s giveaway. Up for grabs is a copy of the this Oppenheimer Award winning book Ecoart! Earth-Friendly Art and Craft Experiences for 3-To 9-Year-Olds

And by the way, I think it is so wonderful that your little ones go to an outdoor preschool. I bet they come home happily exhausted!
