Los Angeles-based summer camp exploring the magic, adventure & discovery of STEAM
summer boredom SOLVED (at least for a week)
Camp STEAM LA is a small, boutique summer camp located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California. With a focus on hands-on activities, projects, and choice-based adventure, Camp STEAM LA is an experiential exploration into science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
At Camp STEAM LA we embrace “summer, unplugged.” We are a much needed break from screens and the digital world, emboldening our campers to think outside of the box and connect with their imaginations. By using common materials in uncommon ways, our campers are empowered to use nontraditional methods to build, engineer, construct, and create.
At Camp STEAM LA we are adventurers, tinkerers, discoverers, mistake makers, builders, observers, creators, messy players, inventors, designers, and dreamers - and we invite you to join us!
our days are busy and loud and colorful and hands-on
what camp STEAM is:
We are open to kids ages 5-11. We break into smaller age-based groups during certain parts of the day, but encourage collaboration and cooperation amongst all campers.
We offer an empowering environment for young tinkerers to use their imagination, and we provide guidance and support without judgement.
We split our time between indoor and outdoor activities - there is always something to do!
We are run by three professional adults: Ana Dziengel, architect, Emily Stuver, art teacher, and Tammy Buchanan, co-founder and teacher of After School STEAM. Learn more about The STEAM Team here!
what camp STEAM is NOT:
We are not your standard large day camp: we have space for approximately 25 campers per session.
We are not run by CITs (counselors-in-training)... though we do love CITs and will have them helping out at times!
We don't offer specialized tracks - all campers participate in the themed activities of the day.
We aren't overly academic. We believe in exploration first, and sprinkle in the learning as we go.
